Awarded to E. A. Roote (Dock Gateman) for Merit on 16th August, 1940 by Southern Railway. With the help of F. A. Foad they moored a mine that was floating towards a viaduct.
Very few of these silver gilt medals were awarded so quite rare.
Produced by the Royal Mint, this medal includes its original box.
The ribbon shows a railway track while the medal itself is in the form of a train wheel.
Facsimile newspaper cuttings included.
Good condition, gilt worn.
